// waiting on wednesday: illuminae by amie kaufman & jay kristoff

"Waiting on Wednesday" is an event, that happens every week and is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication that I can't wait to get my little hands on is Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Title: Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1)
Author: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Publication: 20th October 2015 by Knopf Books for Young Readers
Genre: Sci-Fi, Dystopia, Fantasy

Synopsis:

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

Blurb:

I've seen a few arcs of Illuminae floating around twitter and they come in different editions and they're just so gorgeous! And two of my blogger friends have given this book a five star rating on Goodreads so now I really cant wait to get myself a copy of it. One of them even send "it cured their reading slump" so it must be really good. You can count the amount of Sci-Fi books I've read by the fingers in one hand and that's not a lot. I want to broaden the genres I read so I would give this book a chance. Illuminae is quite a big book actually, it has 608 pages! I also some pictures from people who got arcs that some of the pages have different designs or tweaks to it which I find really cool. Plus the story is told through e-mails and IMs, how could you say no to that?

Is Illuminae in your tbr as well? Are you going to get it when it comes out? Have you read any books by Amy Kaufman and Jay Kristoff? If yes, what would you recommend?
